Three students, each creating three animations based on three themes chosen by the participants, with each loop lasting three seconds.
My approach for this project involved exploring various styles for each piece. Developed for the Applied Motion class in the Digital Design Program at Vancouver Film School in 2024.
Theme 1 : Blossom
Avoiding representing a classic plant or flower blossoming, I went for the biggest blossom of them all: the blossom of the universe. I experimented with particles and glitch on Adobe After Effects.
Theme 2 : Reaching
Reaching for something precious, but is already inside of ourselves. Used some Photoshop to animate frame by frame the hand and to have a fluid transition.
Theme 3: Merge
Geometric abstract design focused on two 2D flat shapes dancing to merge together, exploring which one will prevail as they interact.
